Obviously the best way to rid your body of toxins is to never be exposed to them in the first place. As impossible as that is in today's society, it is very important to do as much as you can to keep the "toxic load" on your body to a minimum. Since there are so many things that we're exposed to regularly that are out of our control, it is even more important to eliminate our chemical exposures in the areas that we do have control over. Avoiding toxins when you can will help your body to be better equipped to deal with the ones that you can't avoid.
Here are some tips for helping your body to rid itself of the toxins that you will undoubtedly consume throughout the day. |

The three ways that toxins are removed from your body are through your sweat, urine, and bowel movements. Therefore you want to do everything you can to keep those systems healthy and in good working order. This means…
Intentionally sweat at least three times a week. You can do this through exercise or in a sauna. And stop wearing antiperspirant. Deodorant is fine, but you want to allow your body to sweat. This is unbelievably important.
Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. You want to be urinating fairly frequently and your urine should be almost colorless.
Eat cruciferous vegetables (the green leafy ones like broccoli and Brussels sprouts) and high-fiber foods to keep your bowels regular. Ideally you want to have two bowel movements a day. |

A strong immune system can protect you somewhat from the toxins that you’re exposed to.
Eat foods high in Vitamin C. Garlic is also an immune booster.
Colorful fruits and vegetables are high in nutrients and a diet high in them will benefit your overall health.
Sugar is an immune suppressant and should be avoided as much as possible.
Getting plenty of sleep every night is also necessary for a strong immune system. |

Your liver is the organ that filters toxins and decides what will be removed from your body. Clearly, you want a liver that is healthy enough to make the distinction between what is “waste” and what is “not waste.”
Keeping your intake of alcohol, medication, and caffeine to a minimum will reduce the toll on your liver so that it is more equipped to deal with other toxins.
Dandelion and milk thistle support the liver and can be taken as a tea or in tincture form. There are also other herbs and supplements that you can take for general liver health. |

Some people are low on or lacking certain nutrients, minerals, vitamins, enzymes, co-enzymes, etc. that are necessary for optimal health. It can often be a good idea to take supplements to correct these deficiencies and your doctor can help you to determine what you should be taking.
Even if you have no deficiencies, everyone can benefit from a good daily multivitamin, since so much of our food today is stripped of its nutrients. |

| Since our emotional well-being has a profound effect on our physical health, always try to keep your stress level low and take time to relax regularly. When the systems in our bodies (including the ones responsible for detoxifying) are burdened with stress, they will not work as well as they should. |
